Are you a Cadet with St John Ambulance Cymru? Do you want to enhance your C.V or improve your digital literacy skills? We’d like to introduce you to the iDEA award.

What is iDEA?

The Inspiring Digital Enterprise Award, known as iDEA is an international programme that helps you develop digital, enterprise and employability skills for free.

Through our series of online challenges, you can win career-enhancing badges, unlock new opportunities and, ultimately, gain industry-recognised Awards that help you stand out from the crowd.

How does it work?

The award is based on a point system the badges (modules) which are completed online at the participants pace. The badges are split into four categories; Citizen, Worker, Maker and Entrepreneur. Citizen covers topics like GDPR, E-safety and digital ethics. Worker covers topics like digital research and collaboration. Maker covers gif making, graphic design and animation. Entrepreneur covers topics like money management, problems solving and advertising.

There are currently two levels; Bronze and Silver.

To achieve the Bronze Award, you need to have a minimum of 250 points and these points must be made up of at least 50 from each core category.

To achieve the Silver Award, you need to have completed at least 4 categories and the Citizen category is mandatory.

The team at DofE have worked closely with iDEA to make sure the award can be used in the skills section. Bronze level is suitable for DofE bronze, and silver is suitable for DofE silver.

Do I have to pay anything?

The award is completely free, iDEA is a non-profit charity.

How do I sign up?

Go to https://idea.org.uk/register and type in a nickname, date of birth, email address and create a password. 

Your Password on iDEA will need to be at least eight characters long, contain at least one symbol and at least one number. Your cadet leader will be given a special code, this will allow you to join the SJAC Cadet group. Once you have the code click on redeem page (see below) and enter the code.
